2025 International Week of Prayer and Fasting (IWOPF – click here for link): . – The 33rd Year of the International Week of Prayer and Fasting (IWOPF) starts with an all day live event of Speakers and Prayer beginning at 8:30 AM – 5 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC. Attending in person is free. One of the main speakers is Cardinal Ernest Simoni who will be the Celebrant for the Noon mass and he is speaking in the afternoon. When Fr. Simoni was a Priest in Albania, in 1963, he was imprisoned for 28 years for saying mass. His strong faith endured. While in prison, he secretly heard confessions and said mass. When Fr. Simoni was released, the communist regime made him work in hard labor work camps and sewage canals. In 2014, Pope Francis, during his apostalic trip to Albania, (his first European trip as Pope) met Fr. Ernest Simoni. Pope Francis was moved to tears when he heard Fr. Simoni’s testimony of imprisonment and torture. The Pope was so inspired by Fr. Simoni’s faith and perseverance that in 2016, the Pope made Fr. Simoni a Cardinal. Cardinal Simoni will share his story with us. He is 96 years old. His charisms have been likened to St. Padre Pio. This reminds us of why we need to Pray & Fast for all priests, seminarians, and vocations as stated in the Mission. Contact Debbie Cooper (coop.deby@gmail.com) for more information

Mission – The mission of the Diocese of Arlington Seminarian Education Endowment is to receive and safeguard charitable gifts in support of priestly education for the seminarians of the Diocese of Arlington.
Vision: The vision of the Endowment is to encourage and foster giving in support of seminarian education by providing a charitable vehicle whose assets are safely, securely and professionally invested with a Catholic conscience. Growth of this endowment will help to provide funding for the educational development of men who have answered the call to serve the people of God through their priestly service.
Investment: The investment in each seminarian’s education and formation is significant. Tuition, room, and board, along with summer assignments, language immersion programs, psychological assessments, and pastoral training, bring the annual cost to nearly $60,000 per seminarian. This financial commitment is necessary to form holy, healthy, and well-prepared priests who will serve the people of God for generations to come. Catholic Herald Ad (click here).
